This energizing class sets the tempo for the day by getting students up and moving. The fun-filled exercises are tailored specifically to the needs of vision-impaired individuals and seniors and are designed to help improve circulation, balance and flexibility.
Safety Skills
This class works with the student to teach them basic safety skills to help them navigate through daily life. Topics cover all aspects of daily life from preparing meals in the home to crossing the street safely and getting to class on time.
Independent Living Skills
One of our most popular sessions, we helps individuals learn methods for independently performing familiar tasks. Our professional and caring instructors will work closely with each student to help them master these tasks safely, confidently and efficiently. Tasks include:
- Financial management
- Cooking and eating
- Personal hygiene
- Applying toiletries and cosmetics
- Handwriting tasks
- Home maintenance

Sensory Awareness
This unique class builds the student's confidence in their fully functioning senses of touch, smell, taste and hearing - all of which can help compensate for their loss of vision. Students learn through hands-on training and class exercises how to use informational clues from their sensory abilities more productively.
Kitchen Skills
Preparing nutritious meals in a safe and efficient manner is the focus of this hands-on course. Students learn adaptive techniques for various cooking tasks, as well as safety skills for using a wide range of utensils and appliances such as a microwave oven, cook top, conventional oven and dishwasher.
Group Counseling
This peer group session puts students together to share experiences, both positive and negative, with each other and compare problem solving skills and solutions to daily obstacles. Through shared experiences and open discussion, students help each other through the tough times and, along the way, make friendships that can last a lifetime.
Resource Information
This course familiarizes students with what types of local, state and national resources are available to persons with vision limitations. Students will learn where to go to find information, what questions to ask and what they will need to take advantage of them.
