Chief Development Officer
The San Diego Center for the Blind (SDCB) is the only community based 501(c)3 program of its kind in San Diego County. Started in 1972, SDCB has become a leader at the local, state, and national levels in providing vision rehabilitation services to adults with no vision to those with changing vision. SDCB is hiring a full-time Chief Development officer for the fundraising and communication functions of the organization. These would include but not be limited to the comprehensive planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all fundraising, communications, and community relations activities. The CDO works collaboratively and maintains clear and regular communications with the CEO, volunteer leadership, community partners and donors, and support staff. Our ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with boundless energy and a can-do attitude.

Musical Fundraiser
The Blind Stokers Club and Bay Bridge Brewing will be hosting a musical fundraiser this Sunday – and you’re invited! Join us on Sunday, September 12, from 1pm to 5pm at Bay Bridge Brewing (688 Marsat Ct., Suite B, Chula Vista, CA 91911) for delicious food and drinks, a raffle drawing and live music from Rock Canyon – and all proceeds will benefit the San Diego Center for the Blind. We hope you’ll join us for some suds and sounds on Sunday!

Independent Living OIB-TAC launches national public awareness campaign
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the TimeToBeBold.org campaign. We know this will lead to increased awareness, advocacy and referrals in the OIB program, and likely across VR as well. Visit the site and follow the finding services link, where we list contact info each of you provided. Be sure to let us know if any of this info changes. We hope you will utilize these resources widely and promote to your community partners and contracting agencies if applicable. We’d really appreciate all adding the 60 second psa video to your websites and using the post-cards and flyers-all available free to anyone who wants to use them to promote access and information. Let us know what you think of the campaign, and of course how we can help you in your community outreach efforts.

35th Annual Bowl for the Blind
Ready to bowl some strikes while supporting a great cause? Join us on October 16 as the Oceanside Sea Lions Club hosts their 35th Annual Bowl for the Blind event at Surf Bowl in Oceanside. Net proceeds from this event will benefit The San Diego Center for the Blind - Vista, Paws 4 for the Cause, and the Blind Stokers Club. And if you cannot bowl, you can always make a donation for these worthwhile organizations.
