9. Diane Schuur

Diane SchuurDiane Schuur is an American jazz singer and pianist, born in 1953.  Retinopathy of prematurity caused her to be blind from birth.  She has performed with several other blind singers in this blog, including Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Jose Feliciano.  She has also performed at the White House.

Diane's album she recorded with B.B. King reached #1 one on the Billboard Jazz Charts.  She appeared 11 times on NBC's The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

In 1996 she appeared with Elmo on Sesame Street explaining how blind people can cope and thrive in a sighted world.
