  • Use a human guide, usually by holding their arm
  • Use a white cane, especially to detect and avoid obstacles
  • Use a service dog
  • Use assistive aids, usually optical or electronic aids
  • Use no aids at all

  • How visually impaired you are
  • Your familiarity with the route you are traveling
  • Lighting conditions
  • Your own preferences
