Diet and Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Previous studies have shown fruit and vegetables high in vitamins and other nutrients can be good for your eyes and your vision, just as they are good for most other parts of your body! Now, a new study tackles the issue of whether some foods may be bad for your eyes; specifically, it tackles if food choices impact the progression of AMD.
It may come as no surprise that researchers found a correlation between diets that are high in red meat, fried foods, dairy and refined grains and the progression of AMD. They did not find a correlation between these foods and early stage AMD. From this, it appears that these foods may worsen progress, but don't have an impact on developing AMD initially.
