Lifelong Atlanta Braves fan Katie Hearn started losing her eyesight at 28. Thanks to her dogged determination Hearn was able to hit a home run, scoring a job with the baseball team she loves. Katie was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri, a rare disorder that leads to blindness. Despite her impairment, she’s got a dream job in the social media department for the Braves.

“When I realized my vision was not going to return, and I was going to have to learn a new normal, I made a choice to not let it define me,” she said. “There were two factors I could control: attitude and effort. Being positive and working hard to use the strengths I still have were, and continue to be, a priority.”
