Goalball – not for the sighted
2 men with blindfolds kneel on an indoor court in front of a large netGoalball, originally created to help visually impaired veterans with rehabilitation, is gaining in popularity and heading to the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. A team sport, players try to keep the ball that has bells embedded out of their net.
 
The game has gained in popularity since its inception in the 1940s becoming a Paralympic event, first as a demonstration event in 1976 and then as an official event in 1980.
